Re: level II UT
If you go to NDTCabin and look for the "Beginners Guide to Ultrasonics" in the Articles Section, you will
find a couple of basic lessons on practical UT. and
some tips on how to get qualified.

Lesson 2 contains some interesting animated graphics,
so don't miss it.

You can teach yourself, but it is hard work, however,
you will have to attend a formal examination at some
time, for your qualification to really mean something.

I personally spent hours at home at night, practising
on bits of scrap metal, with holes drilled into them.

Re: level II UT
If you wish to become certified in accordance with ASNT's SNT TC 1a,
formal classroom training is a mandatory requirement.
My interpretation would be that no ASNT level III that has signed
the code of ethics would want to put his own certificate
and credibility on the line to sign for qualification
without formal training. If there is anybody that has experience
otherwise, or knows of official acceptane elsewhere, and on which
grounds, I would be interested to know.
