Difference between dB and dBM

Please
there are any one can discuss me the difference between dB and dBM units for measurement attenuation.
Thank you in advance.
looking forward to recieve your valuable discussion.

dB or dBW relativ to 1W
dBm for dB relativ to 1 milliwatt. 0 dBm= 1 mW = -30dBW

Dear Mr.Elgazery
Its interesting, but these terms are used interchangeably at times, erroneously. The term dBm is used by
communications engineers and it is absolute. Most Power meters commercially available have this scale.
It is : dBm=10log(base 10)(P1/P2) at two different Power points.Power is read always across a 50 Ohm
resistor.IEEE has made this a standard and 1mW=0dBm(-40dBm is 100nW accross 50 Ohm and +20dBm is 100mW).
As far as I know dB(not DB)refers simly to gain(and loss/attenuation as -dB).It is different this time
as the equation is not Power but a simple ratio: dB=20log(base 10)(Gain or attenuation). One can have
a reference and above that reference he is talking in positive dBs(Gain) and below in negative dBs(loss
or attenuation).Such scales can then be modified as we have done for Acoustic Emission where we talk in
dBae and our refence is the "perfect" sensor giving us ONLY 1microVolt(!) Peak output noise.Anyway a
good goal.So for 40dBae a sensor/Amplifier(40dB Gain)output across a 50 Ohm resistor is 10mV.

Varex Imaging Large Field of View (FOV) Digital Detector Arrays (DDAs)

A larger FOV DDA can reduce the space and volume of the X-ray inspection system on the factory floor
...
, enable faster scanning times, better throughput and better resolution images at a lower dose. Customers can also save time and money. With these benefits in mind, Varex Imaging has designed a family of large FOV detectors (4343HE, XRD 1611, 4343DX-I, 4343CT) for our industrial imaging customers.

NEW! The PragmaPro Instrument Platform

The PragmaPro is based on a modular cartridge technology and supports various NDT instrument modal
...
ities such as UT, PAUT, ECT and many more. This new platform is based on a machined, powder-coated aluminum frame for shock-proofness, best sealing qualities and maximum heat dissipation. This is practical to extend the outdoor temperature range and/or to extend the power injected in the transducers. The PragmaPro is aiming at a very wide range of applications, such as weld scanning, corrosion mapping and composite testing.

ISAFE3 Intrinsically Safe Sensor System

ISAFE3 intrinsically safe sensor system of Vallen Systeme is especially targeted at the petrochemica
...
l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.

Compact NDT inspection-heads for measurements with active thermography

The compact inspection head is suitable for thermographic ndt tasks. The uncooled infrared camera
...
is specially developed for NDI-tasks and offers a thermal sensitivity until now known only from thermal imagers with cooled detector. All required components and functions are integrated into the inspection-head. You will only need an ethernet cable to connect the sensor with the evaluation system.
