Laser shearography help
Dear sir/ Madam
I am s.sathik basha, working in crescent engineering college, chennai, India. Now i am in process of buying Laser shearography instrument.
I want to know whether this instument is applied to measure the residual stress of the welded components. Plese tell me how to measure the residual stress using laser shearography and what are necessary requirements.
Please help me in this matter.
Expecting your favourable reply.

While there are some papers on Shearography for residual stress determination, I am not sure how best it can be effectively used for this measurement. As with strain gauge methods, to determine residual stress , the hole drilling approach is adopted. However, with optical methods while they do provide whole field information, we would need information from two or three patterns to get the complete state of strain and thus residual stress. Of course if the interest is to just visualize whether stress is present or not , then one picture may suffice.
ISAFE3 Intrinsically Safe Sensor System
ISAFE3 intrinsically safe sensor system of Vallen Systeme is especially targeted at the petrochemica
l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications.
The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation.
ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
NEW! The PragmaPro Instrument Platform
The PragmaPro is based on a modular cartridge technology and supports various NDT
ities such as UT, PAUT, ECT and many more. This new platform is
based on a machined, powder-coated aluminum frame for shock-proofness, best sealing
qualities and maximum heat dissipation. This is practical to extend the outdoor
temperature range and/or to extend the power injected in the transducers. The
PragmaPro is aiming at a very wide range of applications, such as weld scanning,
corrosion mapping and composite testing.
Teledyne ICM’s CPSERIES has been designed with a view to
revolutionizing the handling and perfor
mances of portable X-Ray
sets. Despite having managed to halve the weight of similar
portable X-Ray generators available on the market (while
continuing to provide the same power output), the SITEX CPSERIES
generators feature a shutter, a laser pointer, a beryllium window,
an aluminum filter and two integrated diaphragms (customized sizes
are available upon request). Without compromising the robustness
and reliability for which ICM products are renowned, the small
size and light weight of the SITEX CPSERIES will radically change
the way that you perform your RT inspections. And you will see a
positive impact in terms of both quality and return on investment
