Hi Chris,

You forgot to mention what kind of certification you are holding... But being from the USA, I assume that you are either ACCP or ASNT TC-1A.

If you're TC-1A, that might be a little difficult, since it is a certification that is administered by the employer. As well, the training is often provided by the employer. So when you leave your job, you also kiss your certs goodby. In this cenario, another employer maybe reluctant to hire since your training isn't recognise by a governing body.

The other cenario is that you are ACCP certified. In this situation, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to find work worldwide. Many countries do recognises ASNT certification. Also, it depends very much on who you will be working for. I mean, if the potential employer is doing work for a US project, they may favor someone with ACCP since it would provide some sort of comfort to their client.

So in a nutshell, this is my undestanding of your situation. Someone else (preferably from the USA) may be able to provide you with a more accurate answer.

Cheerio's

The API certifications are quite popular in the South East Asian region.

Your current certifications may not be valid, depending upon the type of certification. However, with an additional refresher/ add on training of a day or two, you can take an exam in the technique and get recertified. This is true for most of the NDT certifications. Regards

Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
