HI EVERYONE,

I HAVE A QUESTION :WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE ABOUT FPI(FLUORESCENT PENETRANT INSPECTION) SENSITIVITY HIGH LEVEL AND MIDDLE LEVEL ON SITE.NORMALLY,THERE IS ONLY 3 SENSITIVITY LEVELS,BUT NO HIGH LEVEL.

BY THE WAY,I WORK IN AN AERO ENGINE MAINTENANCE FIRM,I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL HAPPEN ON YOUR SITE?

Their has been 5 Level of Fluorescent Penentrant Sensitivity for at least 15 years. ASTM (probably revised since) stated it in E1417-99 paragraph 5.1.3. When I was still in the Air Force, we used Level 4 Penetrant. It was felt the results sought were critical.

Hi all the penetrants are technically available in 5 different sensitivity levels viz: level-1/2: ultra low sensitivity, level-1: low sensitivity, level-2: medium sensitivity, level-3: high sensitivity and level-4: ultra high sensitivity. Refer to your aircdraft maintenance manual and find out which sensitivity level is needed. Generally it is Level3 or 4 in the aviation industry. Your approved manufacturer may be of some help.
