how to detect radioactive elements

automotive components are to be tested to ensure the material is free from the presence of radioactive elements and mercury.Please keep us informed as to what testing technique has to be adopted.

Dear Jayakandan,

In India, AERB, BARC and Directorate of Radiation Protection etc. are the people who can help you. Once you get the specifications for the radiation limits, you can get suitable radiation detectors, which can range from simple hand held detectors to more sensitive instruments. As for mercury, suitable destructive or non-destructive methods of analysis can be selected depending on the detection limits needed. If you can share the specifications, I can probably help you.
