C/S Boiler Tube Inspection

Does anyone know of the best way to inspect carbon steel boiler tubes for leaks? These are approximate sizes.

Hydro test the tubes, prefferably at a pressure greater than the Relief Valve setting. I would go 1-1/4 times PRV setpoint.

Second best is IRIS spinning-head UT inspection. Very slow, thus brutally expensive for a full boiler inspex.

For gross leaks you may try an air test at low pressure. Use acoustics to listen for leaks.

You can try any of the Ultrasonic Leak Detectors with Ultrasonic Tone Generators to check the leaks in the pipes.

Sonatest has Soundscan units. Check their website
