New to industry

Hello
I am going through a career change at 42 years old and needless to say I am curious as to what the future holds.
I am going through a NDT course in the USAF and am going to persue that in the civillian world. My main question is from your experiences how long do you think it will take in this industry to make a wage that will support a family. IE 45-50000 yearly. I know there is a lot of variables but your personal experinces will at give me some insight.
You can email me personally if you desire to do so. Thanks to all in advance
Ken
