Bond testing of PE pipe

Has anyone had success UT testing for lack of bond in electrically-heated pipe sleeve joints in PE pipe? The bonding heat element wires give a high echo very near to the expected line of fusion.

Re: Bond testing of PE pipe
You obviously have a very specific problem.

If a direct A-Scan (time domain) does not produce enough differentiation of signal - it is possible that an FFT (frequency domain) evaluation might help - in producing a signal with enough differentiation to show signal differences between the heating wire - with and without a weld flaw present.

We would be happy to work with you on this.

Please respond directly and we can discuss options.

Re: Bond testing of PE pipe
We had success UT testing for lack of bond in electrically-heated pipe sleeve joints in PE pipe.
We can identify each wire's specing and location in real time images. The line of fusion is also detected and saperated from the signal from wires in the UT images if the fusion is not pefect.
We are using multi element array system that was developed in our company "INDE SYSTEM Co., Ltd."
The product will be in the market within few monthes.
