testing of polyethelen welding joints

I am looking for a NDT method to inspection of welding joints of polyethelen gas pipelines. So any body know of a effective method for identification such defects as a close contact of surfaces without mutual diffusion of materials or have experience in examining of such welding joints please will give an advice

Re: testing of polyethelen welding joints
I have worked in a similar field of NDT on diffusion welding. I think the defects in the welding interface have similar characteristic with your case. I would like to have a detail contact with you about your problem.
