Power Quality Assessment using IR Thermography

My research work aims to assess the Power Quality Assessment using IR Thermography; I am looking for any suggestions for promising NDT techniques for this study.

- The concern is the overall power quality of 40 year old; over the past years, the system has been reconfigured or expanded to accommodate equipment upgrades and modifications. Subsequently, power, lighting or receptacle panels are modified to meet these needs. This 40-year process was not adequately documented however, to reflect all the power system changes, and we are concerned that power integrity might be questionable!

- A brief surveying of power, lighting, receptacle panels and transformers located throughout a facility revealed the need to update these systems.

- The next step is a detailed power assessment, including detailed infrared thermographic scans to measure and diagnose power quality parameters.

- I propose to conduct case study details recent IR surveys of panels and transformers. My assumption is that the IR images and digital photos are extremely useful in avoiding potential incidents and costly equipment shutdowns.
