Concrete NDT and destructive testing

What would be the most common testing (both NDT and destructive testing)methods for pre-cast concrete products. Some methods I can see are the slump test, compression test and hardness tests. What other testing methods are common for this application? Thanks in advance

I know of the PUNDIT machine for testing concrete. I googled PUNDIT and this led to the present equipment manufacturer, Proceq - they also make the Equotip hardness tester. So go to www.proceq.com for a wide variety of concrete testing electronic equipment.

Gabriel,

there are a lot of additional methods (and manufacturers) around. There are eddy current and radar devices e. g. for checking rebar location or acoustic methods (impact echo, ultrasonics) for checking geometry , quality, inhomogeneities.... You can even X-ray.
What is best for you, depends on your application. If you decribe the "precast concrete products" and the problems you expect a little more in detail, I (and others) could recommend suitable methods.

Gabriel,

the usage of destructive testing methods on pre-cast concrete products depends
1. on the standards applicable to the product in the respective country and
2. on the techniques the manufacturer has found useful for quality control. There is a wide range of possibilies.

Concerning non-destructive methods, I am not aware of any standards. Ultrasonic through transmission has been used for quality control for a long time. Changes of the pulse velocity indicate variations in the manufacturing process, cracks, or other problems.

During the last few years non-destructive testing methods have been developed further. As an example, our institute conducts R&D on ultrasonic methods. It is now possible to measure pulse velocity without surface contact employing air-coupled transducers, or to image concrete elements from one side using electronic and mechanical scanning and 2D or 3D SAFT reconstruction.
