Perfered DAC setup hole vs notches

For setting up a DAC on a 1/16 drill hole through double girth v weld using a 70 degree wedge with 3.5 Mhz. Isn't the perfered way is using a notch

Notches are 'preferred' because side-drilled holes are so difficult to macnine into a pipe weld. Notches only give OD and ID. If feasable, 1/4 T /12 T and 3/4T side-drilled holes [like the ASME Basic block] would my strong preference.

Hi,
I can suggest start drill hole with 15mm to 25mm diameter surface area. In every slide drilled hole can attached with pipes fitting notches.
