There are a number of instruments out at the moment that do the job you describe. INTRON is one of the well known manufacturers of such equipment and their products are fully automated and very simple in use and compact. You can read some information about the products at:

On Envirocoustics web site there are also links to INTRONs home page for more info

Re: LMA equipment
Zawada NDT make a very good instrument I had the pleasure of using a few years back http://www.webmedia.pl/zndt/eng.html

We purchased one for an NDT unit in Australia and this link is the story behind it http://www.ndt.net/wshop/forum/messages/108.htm

There are two Canadian companies that used to make equipment called Rotescograph and Magnograph.

Another manufacturer and information site is http://www.ndttech.com/

Kindest Regards

Michael Trinidad

oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
