Ultrasonics is one method, which can be used, however you need to caliberate the system/data and you will get information. We have developed systems for plymerisation and 3 phase (liquid/particle and gas) for some universities and they have used to study. Since you have nanoparticles, we can try, and see what results we have from the ultrasonic system. Laser is other technique you can use.
