Calibration Block for Duplex

Hello Guy,

i need to do a thickness measurement so i would like to ask somebody can i use a stainless steel stepwage to do on duplex material? i think velocity for duplex not same which stainless steel. there have a duplex stepwage for we calibrate for duplex?
any advise please..

Why not use the same material as the calibration piece? If you have one area accessible for measurement with a vernier or a micrometer, it is easy to use that as a calibration thickness.

Dear Ali,
You are correct to assume that the ultrasonic velocities between Type 304 Stainless Steel and Duplex Stainless Steel are different. If you require a NIST traceable step block, PH Tool stocks two versions in Duplex Alloy 2205. The standard ASTM E797 5-Step, Inch version (.100, .200, .300, .400, and .500 inch) and the 5-Step, Metric 5B version (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10mm). If you do not require a formal test block, Mr. S. V. Swamy's suggestion of using the actual part for thickness calibration may suffice.

nresolved asset integrity problem in the industry. Current methods for measuring wall thickness with liftoff, without removing insulation, all have severe limitations. Eddyfi introduces Lyft — a reinvented, high-performance pulsed eddy current (PEC) solution. The patent- pending system features a state-of-the-art portable instrument, real- time C-scan imaging, fast data acquisition with grid-mapping and dynamic scanning modes, and flexibility with long cables. It can also scan through thick metal and insulation, as well as aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized steel weather jackets. Who else but Eddyfi to reinvent an eddy current technique and redefine CUI programs. Got Lyft?
