seeking documents about UT NDT to ancient wood

Dear friends,

Recently we are carrying out one project for Evaluation of safety of old wood structure of ancinet temples by NDT. We used Fakopp,PUNDIT to measure the decay or rot of old wood pole. But I have not the reference speed of dry wood for Picea species and other wood species by ultrasonic measurement. IN the Sylvatest Operation Guide Book, they gave the reference speed of Picea is 1600m/s, this is for living tree, but not for dry wood.

So does anyone tell me the reference speed of dry wood for Picea and other species or provide the website?
Thanks a lot.

Re: seeking documents about UT NDT to ancient wood
The material velocity for any substance can be determined from known thickness samples. A range of mechanical measurements are taken and the measuring devices' velocity controls adjusted to concur. Many devices perform this function automatically. This primary reference is preferable to table values as it compensates for temperature, humidity etc.
