Inconel / Stainless Cladding Measurement

Good Morning Gentlemen

Regarding the recent debate about the measurement of Inconel and Stainless overlays, Dinsley Devices Ltd(UK) and Inspection Software Ltd(UK) are currently commissioning a new multi-channel automatic NDT system (DinSearch 500) for the measurement of such cladding in carbon steel tubes.

Using a magnetic method it produces a linear output for 0 to 10mm of cladding with resolution of up to 0.1mm (depending on metallurgical boundary structures). The system is rack-mounted, with an integral PC used for data-acquisition, real-time display, analysis and reporting. Data is streamed continually to disk so that the inspection length is virtually unlimited.

A manually operated version has been used at a UK tube mill for several months, giving accurate and reproducible measurements of Inconel linings in carbon steel pipes of 125mm bore.

Further details will posted here and at our website in the new year, but in the meantime any questions or request for information can be posted to the forum, or directly to me, or Dinsley Devices Ltd.

Compliments of the season to everyone.
