Need brief intro on various adv insp. systems on Tanks

I need some useful tips on different inspection systems that can be used in service and out of service of pre lode tanks
especially of in service inspection like AE and other methods if any. even at the time of construction of tanks what are the different NDT methods that can be used advance techniques mostly, which can replace conventional NDT methods.

Out of service there is tank floor I am aware of and thickness measurements let me know if any other methods that can be utilized.

this information is required as I need to give small speech on various techniques on preloaded tanks.

Thanks

Dear Pramod Myakal,

please send your full address details to sales@vallen.de. I will then send you an information package including the free Vallen AE-Suite CD-ROM with a lot of information about AE testing and the synthesis report of an EC-funded project to improve the reliability of AE tests of storage tanks.

regards
Jens Forker

Pramod

you need to think about the range of tanks as the needs and inspection difficulties of various designs will influence the application of particular techniques.

Tank Floors - Easily Assessed with an independently qualified AE technique.
Leak testing - Reliable with AE in light products possible high missed call rate in dirty crude oil tanks.

Annular Plates - Inspected from CHIME Piece by medium range ultrasonic techniques such as TALRUT from Physical Acoustics and LOROUS from RTD

InService Robots - Good for light products high quality data as uses ultrasonics. Limited coverage due to cost. See InTank Services

Remote Visual for seals and other internal structures when added to in-service robots. See InTank Services

Infrared to identify thermal insulation breakdown on Insulated Tanks.

Neutron Backscatter to determine sludge levels and also moisture ingress into insulation.

Refer to API RP 575 for further guidance.

SITEX CPSERIES

Teledyne ICM’s CPSERIES has been designed with a view to revolutionizing the handling and perfor
...
mances of portable X-Ray sets. Despite having managed to halve the weight of similar portable X-Ray generators available on the market (while continuing to provide the same power output), the SITEX CPSERIES generators feature a shutter, a laser pointer, a beryllium window, an aluminum filter and two integrated diaphragms (customized sizes are available upon request). Without compromising the robustness and reliability for which ICM products are renowned, the small size and light weight of the SITEX CPSERIES will radically change the way that you perform your RT inspections. And you will see a positive impact in terms of both quality and return on investment (ROI).

ities such as UT, PAUT, ECT and many more. This new platform is based on a machined, powder-coated aluminum frame for shock-proofness, best sealing qualities and maximum heat dissipation. This is practical to extend the outdoor temperature range and/or to extend the power injected in the transducers. The PragmaPro is aiming at a very wide range of applications, such as weld scanning, corrosion mapping and composite testing.
