Stress Corrosion Cracking

We have reported indications of SCC on gas manifold internal change of section. The external geometry is a 2" weldlet on a 6" main pipe. The internal surface is very roughly machined and we have recommended radiography to confirm the indications. Due to the activity on site at present this can't be done without delaying start up. The rough internal surface can be accessed through a 1" bore pipe 6" long, the external surface is accessible. Can anybody advise the best method to:

1. Confirm our findings for the client.
2. Size the cracking found.

Gary,

The ID Creeping Wave method may be an application for your inspection problem. Or using Focused Refracted Longitudinal Waves (or OD creeping Waves) like HALT maybe effective.
