Re: Corrosion on carbon steel The DINSEARCH DS100 is designed to detect and evaluate corrosion damage of carbon steel heat exchanger tubes. Normally, these tubes are entirely carbon steel and the equipment detects corrosion on both the inside and the outside of the tube. Dinsley Devices Ltd. have evaluated, and on rare occasions used, the equipment on carbon steel tubes that are lined with brass or bronze. While the equipment can need some adjustment that has to be made by the manufacturer, the DINSEARCH DS100 has successfully detected and evaluated corrosion damage both on the outside of the lined tubes and in the carbon steel at the interface between lining and carbon steel. There is good reason to believe that the equipment would also be successful on carbon steel tubes that have a Ti lining or some of the many types of stainless steel. We would be willing to assess performance on receipt of suitable samples.

Re: Corrosion on carbon steel Seems as though this would be a good application for magnetic flux leakage (MFL) inspection. If I remember correctly R/D Tech (http://www.rd-tech.com)makes a system that might be applicable.
