.
Hi Michael,
Impact Echo testing is a test technique applied to large structures such as road bridges etc., and operates on the Resonant Inspection principle.

My company uses Quasar Resonant Inspection, which is Resonant Inspection mainly aimed at mass-produced manufactured automotive components.
We have references and some theoretical background on our web site www.hands-ndt.co.uk. Look at the reference under Resonant Inspection.

Alternatively, Quasar International have a downloadable .PDF file entitled "Using Resonant Inspection in a Production Environment" on their web site. Go to www.quasarintl.com/resonant/resonant.html and under the section "Technical Discussion" you will find the document.

Regards,

Godfrey Hands.

There is very good information on the technique at the following website, www.impact-echo.com

In addition, there is a very nice animated demo on the website on how the Impact Echo Technique works. There is also a good book on the subject by Sansalone & Street, called Impact-Echo, which can be purchased through the website.
