Circular Field Induction

I would like input from MT "experts" on the following, will an acceptable circular field be induced in an object that is held parallel to a copper bar through which a current is passed?

In needed, follow this link for a picture of the set up http://www.ndt-cgi.com/NDTCGI/ndt_applications.htm

Thanks for the input.
