You should try to work with special Phased Array probes. We have developped such probes with a separated Transmitter Receiver operation for Longitudinal waves. The probe has a size of about 25 x 25 mm, works at 3 MHz and allows as well the focussing at variable depth as the variation of the incidence angles between 36° and 76°.
