Aluminium Surface Wave Velocity

Hi,
Does anybody have a reference that quotes a range of Surface Wave Velocities for different Aluminium Alloys?

I need an approximate figure to be able to calculate the second Critical Angle to generate surface waves in Aluminium Castings, or alternatively, an Incident Angle in Water to gererate these.

Dear Godfrey,
I have a couple of references that I found a few years ago that you can probably use as a guide.

Al 1100-0 (2SO) Velocity of sound (Surface) 2900m/s

Al 2024 T4 (24ST)Velocity of sound (Surface) 2950m/s

These came from the Xactex Corp booklet dated August 1995

oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
