How to detect insulator cracks

I would like to know the best way to detect cracks in transmission line insulators .
Is this done by thermal imagers ,or ultrasonic probes or what ??
with best regards.

Dear Mr Tamer Al Rayes
if you want to detect crack formation during crimping of the end fittings AE can be a valuable online monitoring tool. Please contact me for further information.

Dear Mr. Tamer Al Rayes,

You can detect cracks using the following techniques:
Thermography
Dry-couplat ultrasonics
Coin tape test - for qualitative assessment.

I am more familiar with dry-couplant technique.

With best regards,
