Long Range UT on stainless steel pipe

Is Long Range UT inspection able to detect corrosion on austenitic stainless steel or duplex, seamless pipe (max thk 30 mm nominal OD up to 10 inches)?
If yes, what are the limitations?

Thank you in advance

Dear Fabio,
Long Range Ultrasonic (or Guided Waves) are certainly able to test on Duplex and Stainless Steel piping.
The Ultrasonic frequency used is low enough that attenuation in Stainless Steel is not significant. Also, the sound energy will transfer form one meduim to the other when you have Duplex tube.

NDT Consultants in the UK may be able to help you.

LRUT does work with stainless steel and duplex SS material,( we have to use different mode of waves, like lateral or torsional) but the result is based on the type of defect looking for, It is good for localised pitting corrosion,Root erosion, or crivice corosion not fit for general corrosion or Intergranular corrosion.

We (IRS -singapore)provide the LRUT services, please contact for your requirements at arun@irs-inspection.com,

Is it Possible to find corrosion on pipe where it is on support ie, on support location by Long Range UT?
