We are just screening the latest possibilities to do thickness measurement of paint on a plastic substrate. Means: we need to get a good idea of the thickness of all layers of decorative paint, surface protection, etc on a very low conductive or isolating fibre reinforced plastics e.g. CFRP, GFRP, and so on. But main focus on CFRP. Wew know there are some UT instruments on the market which claim to be designed to match these material compositions: but having sometimes more then 10 different layers on top of the substrate - you can imagine the impedance difference between substrate and the coatings is not significant and multiple echoes out of each layers interfere...e.g. 30 ... 200 MHz UT does not promize really a solution... We know about some other techniques and methods. But up to now we see a need for much better performance. So it is a tricky task and I would like to now about new commercial ideas (Not academic ideas, as there is now guaratee that they could ever become reality) But: It should be NDT , not anything like Paint Borer, Paint Inspection Gauge or comparable.

tasks. The uncooled infrared camera
is specially developed for
NDI-tasks and offers a thermal sensitivity until now known only
from thermal imagers with cooled detector. All required
components and functions are integrated into the inspection-head.
You will only need an ethernet cable to connect the sensor with
the evaluation system.
