Re: Subsea inspection
I don't think there is a single answer to your question. There are many DIFFERENT types of inspection requirements and systems - as well as manufacturers and service companies that help you get started.

NDT Automation designs and manufactures (as well as operates - through a related division) subsea-based equipment - primarily automated UT - and would be happy to discuss your specific applications and requirements.

You can find us at www.ndtautomation.com or reply directly to my posted e-mail address.

Re: Subsea inspection
Another technique widely used for subsea inspection is ACFM. This is used mostly by divers for detecting and sizing fatigue cracks on welds, but has been deployed by ROV, and by scanner systems on pipelines.
See our website - www.tscinspectionsystems.com - for more information.

FMC/TFM

Next generation for Phased Array UT is here now with FMC/TFM! Have higher resolution imaging, impr
...
oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
