Case hardeness thickness

I'm looking for a method for measuring case hardness depth. The
Hardness layer is on the order of 1.5mm to 6mm. The method must be
allow for portable inspections and be reasonably priced.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Case hardeness thickness
Eddy current testing lends itself very well to testing
for case hardening. You would need to have a standard and
most of the instruments are meter type that are resonably
Priced.
