Metals Testing Company, Inc. (MTC) announces its laboratory based inspection service to perform ultrasonic (UT) inspections of complex shaped parts using an in-house developed motion control system capability.
The overall inspection system is an immersion tank with the MTC motion control system combined with an IntraSpect UT C-Scan imaging system. It is capable of inputting manufacturing drawing instructions for generating the resultant motion control scan plan. One of its first uses has been to inspect hollow fan blades for both commercial and military aircraft engines.
MTC provides NDT laboratory inspection services to various markets ranging from aerospace to automotive industries. Their in-house capabilities include immersion and contact ultrasonics (UT), chemical etch and etch anodizing, fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI), and magnetic particle inspection (MPI). With regard to aircraft engine manufacturers, MTC is one of the few approved independent laboratories in the world for providing Blue Etch Anodize (BEA) inspections.
