Kodak continues non-destructive testing innovations with new system enhancements

ROCHESTER, N.Y., February 15, 2006 Continuing its focus on innovation in the non-destructive testing market, Eastman Kodak Company today announced additions to its robust product portfolio, including KODAK INDUSTREX Digital Viewing Software V1.5, which enhances radiographic image analysis and lab productivity. Along with this software release, Kodak offers user interface translations and enhanced monitor options for advanced image analysis and image viewing.

The new INDUSTREX V1.5 Software is designed to improve workflow in busy testing facilities by enabling a multitasking work environment. The software facilitates networking within the complete line of KODAK INDUSTREX Digital Systems. These systems allow users to capture an image while simultaneously analyzing, annotating or inspecting another image. The new INDUSTREX Digital Viewing Software V1.5 enables the use of the KODAK INDUSTREX Language Software Pack V1.5, which includes French, Italian, German and Spanish.

The new monitor options feature a choice of the existing INDUSTREX 2 MP High Brightness Color Monitor or the new, high resolution INDUSTREX 3 MP High Brightness Color Monitor. The new monitors enhance customers image analysis capabilities by improving image detail.

These enhancements are designed to meet the needs we hear from our customers, and they reflect our expanding portfolio of applications for digital radiography, said Martin Graen, general manager of Kodak s Non-Destructive Testing business. This offering demonstrates that Kodak continues to bring new and exciting solutions, supported by Kodak s award-winning service team and designed specifically for industrial radiography, to NDT markets around the world. More innovations are planned in 2006 to better serve the NDT marketplace.

KODAK INDUSTREX ACR-2000 and ACR2000i Systems: Large Images, Flexible Plates, Portable Systems

The KODAK INDUSTREX ACR-2000 Digital System combines portability of equipment with flexible phosphor imaging plates that can be formed to any length necessary and wrapped around pipes or aircraft wings. The system is small and portable enough to pack in a pickup truck or on a cart, and images can be reviewed on location, reducing the need for return trips.

The ACR-2000 s phosphor imaging plate has 10 times the dynamic range of film, reducing the number of exposures required to examine an object thoroughly, and Kodak s image visualization and analysis software helps focus on suspect areas and draw out details.

The ACR-2000i adds the advantage of a built-in eraser that clears the phosphor plate after reading so it s ready for another exposure quickly. Allowing imaging plates to be used repeatedly means the mobile radiographer needs to carry fewer supplies.

The KODAK INDUSTREX LS85 Film Digitizer is Kodak s highest resolution film digitizer, featuring a laser beam to illuminate the scanned film and producing digital signals to an accuracy of 0.001 optical density via its proprietary logarithmic amplifier, unique to this digitizer. The LS85 is self-calibrating, unaffected by ambient light, fits on a tabletop, and is highly reliable.
