The ASNT’s 15th Annual Research Symposium March 2006 or Spring Conference as it is affectionately known, was held in Orlando, Florida at the Wyndham Resort in the midst of the holiday and entertainment area of the city. The sunny skies and comfortable mid-20° Celsius days being a welcome respite from the wintry British weather. The Spring Conference is usually characterised by an influx of student visitors, however considering that the conference was held during the university & college spring break and most service companies were in the throes of preparation for the summer workload, there was a surprisingly good turnout from industry professionals.

Jackie Berry and Mark Nel manned the Technology Design Ltd. exhibition stand together with our USA Distributor, John McMillan of Mechanical Integrity Inc . based in Humble, Texas. The combination of our USA based representative, which is a top grade inspection service & development company offering application input, together with our in-depth knowledge of the TD range of equipment, software & sales, brought a powerful dynamic to our marketing effort.

Business was brisk on the opening night and again on the following morning, although it did slow down in the afternoon somewhat – we suspect that the glorious weather had something to do with this! We received many visitors that had not previously made contact with Technology Design, many of whom were experienced users evaluating equipment & software alternatives. As expected the vast majority of visitors were interested in phased array and without exception expressed delight at our TD Focus-Scan with its superior capability in a small box and indeed our latest TD Scan Software Version 16.06.

The Spring Conference was a good opportunity to revive old acquaintances and gave existing customers an opportunity to see the latest software developments in action, discuss requirements and demonstrate how these developments could enhance their application of the technology. Exhibitions like the Spring Conference are an ideal opportunity for manufacturers and service providers alike to share ideas and meet the people who are at the leading edge of NDT development; we therefore recommend that our customers and distributors attend similar events regularly in order to gain the benefit of the exposure.

In conclusion we were pleased by the good response from the Spring Conference and look forward to future ASNT events and greater involvement in the North American market through the efforts of our highly motivated and competent associates at Mechanical Integrity Inc.
