GE Plans to Build New Plant in Skaneateles Falls
According to media reports, GE Inspection Technologies has announced plans to build a 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Skaneateles Falls. The project is expected to create 50 new high-tech jobs, and it will retain 153 existing jobs. GE plans to invest more than six million dollars in the construction of this new facility. GE says it chose the Skaneateles Falls site because it will have a low impact on employees who work in the existing Skaneateles Falls facility, and also because Skaneateles Falls is an attractive destination town. GE purchased Welch Allyn's Everest VIT subsidiary in July 2005 for an undisclosed amount. Since then, the two manufacturers have been occupying the same building. Welch Allyn owns the structure and will make the determination as to what to do with it, company spokesman Cliff Jones said to The Citizen Newspaper.
