|ETher NDE the Harpenden, UK-based manufacturer and distributor for eddy current products, have recently launched two new Eddy Current instruments using the USB interface to enable a standard PC to display and process eddy current signals.

ViCTor is an Eddy Current Instrument, which is intended for automation applications such as component testing.
Veritor, coupled with a small handheld PC, gives a compact lightweight inspection instrument coupled with all the functionality associated with a PC such as a high resolution display, compatibility with most "Office software" and adaptabilty to advances in the PC market. The batteries used are readily available C-Cells either in rechargeable or non-rechargeable formats
The instrument is extremely easy to use with no complex menu structures and will suit even the most inexperienced eddy current technician. Whereas the specification is industry leading with 2Hz-37MHz test frequency selection and extremely low noise-circuitry. When coupled with the ETher NDE newly developed "IB Tech Inside " (absolute intrinsically balance) technology this further improves the signal-to-noise ratio compared to conventional absolute probes giving a significant improvement in inspection reliability.
The ViCTor is intended for automation applications and features an 80dB audio alarm and an open collector output for integration with a mechanical handling system.
Both units are available with a National Instruments LabView software development kit (SDK). This will permit customers to customise the software to suit their particular application and will be of interest to automation providers, companies wishing to even further simplify the user interface and researchers whishing to develop further functionality.
"ETher NDE already represent two world-leading brands in; Eddy Current Technology Inc (ect) for Eddy Current Tube Testing and Russell NDE Systems for Remote Field Current . These two new product demonstrate how we are offering more value to our customers," said Michael Reilly, Executive Chairman.
"Although we've only been trading since March this year our reputation for manufacturing quality eddy current probes and accessories in the timescale required by the demands of the NDT industry has already spread around the world" said John Hansen, Managing Director.
