MECNOV Announces Strategic Alliance With MIDAS-NDT SYSTEMSContour Dynamics Inspection Systems4, Levis, Canada
Quebec, Canada, May 18th 2011: Mecnov NDT Systems announced today that it has finalised an agreement with UK-based Midas-NDT Systems to collaborate on the sales, promotion and manufacturing of ultrasonic inspection systems for advanced composite materials used in aerospace applications.
The collaboration between the two companies, which manufacture automated inspection systems for a variety of industries such as aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, aims to diversify revenues for Mecnov and expand Midas-NDT's geographical bases. Since the agreement was concluded in February 2011, Mecnov and Midas-NDT have been actively bidding conjointly on various projects.
"It is an ideal match for both Mecnov and Midas-NDT" says Erick Pelletier, VP of Business Development, "since our combined portfolios and expertise will benefit both our companies." He went on to say that the addition of the Midas-NDT ultrasonic inspection systems to Mecnov's offering, would serve to complete their offering for existing and potential clients.
James Boaden, Chief Executive Officer of Midas-NDT adds "our association will allow us to introduce our industry-recognised inspection systems to North and South American markets."
Both companies will be exhibiting together at the upcoming SAMPE 2011 show (Society for the Advancement & Material Process Engineering), to be held from May 23rd to 26th in Long Beach, California, where exhibitors include leading advanced composite manufacturers for the aerospace industry.
Automated non-destructive testing (NDT) systems are used by manufacturers of primary structures and components for aircraft, high-speed railroad transportation, oil & gas prospection and production, nuclear power generation and many other applications. Ultrasound, radiography and visual or infrared imaging are amongst the technologies used to perform NDT inspections in the manufacturing environment.
