|FREMONT, CA. DCG announced today that it has acquired Thermosensorik GmbH, a leading provider of infrared non-destructive testing (IR NDT) solutions for the semiconductor, photovoltaic, and weld inspection markets. Founded in 1998 as a spin-off from Erlangen-Nuremberg University and based in Erlangen, Germany, Thermosensorik will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of DCG Systems, Inc.
Since October 2009, DCG has maintained an exclusive agreement with Thermosensorik to develop and market its popular ELITE system, which is based upon Thermosensoriks sensitive infrared cameras and real-time lock-in thermography technology. The ELITE system is optimized for defect localization in semiconductor devices and has proven effective in identifying defects within stacked-die devices in a non-destructive manner. This solution has already been adopted by several leading-edge semiconductor manufacturers.
We are pleased to welcome Thermosensorik to the DCG family and look forward to working together using DCGs strong worldwide sales and support network to broaden their existing markets, said Dr. Israel Niv, President and CEO of DCG Systems, Inc. The superiority of Thermosensoriks camera technology has made the ELITE very successful, and an excellent complement to DCGs other leading-edge solutions. We welcome the opportunity to expand more fully into markets that are adjacent to DCGs core semiconductor market.
Thermosensorik produces a line of high-performance infrared cameras for SWIR, MWIR, LWIR, dual-band, dual-color and broadband applications, and was one of the first companies to make focal-plane-array infrared cameras for civil applications in research and industry. The company also pioneered the development of imaging heat flow analysis for non-destructive material and component testing. In 2007 and 2008, the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) granted Thermosensorik GmbH a number of patents for the fully automated testing of weld joints.
Combining with DCG Systems enables us to grow and concentrate on what we do best: providing best-in-class, infrared nondestructive testing solutions to a variety of markets ranging from automotive to solar module production, said Thomas Hierl, Founder and Managing Director of Thermosensorik GmbH. Our superior technologies and DCG marketing and sales strength will enhance our solutions to new markets.
Thermosensoriks extensive experience with real-time lock-in thermography and associated products has already enabled DCGs ELITE system to achieve great success, said Randy Schussler, VP/GM DCG Systems. The tighter integration that this merger creates will allow us to address our customer needs faster and provide even more depth and breadth in our solutions. In addition, the IR NDT technologies that Thermosensorik developed allow DCG to expand beyond our traditional base and into new markets.
