AIMEN brought researchers and technology suppliers in nondestructive testing together in Porriño

AIMEN Technological Centre organized the April the 7th , 2011 the 3rd edition of the Day of Non-Destructive Testing. AIMEN held this biennial conference intended to establish itself as a forum for discussion of new trends and technological developments in techniques for nondestructive testing (NDT). On this occasion, the theme of the day focused on Radiographic testing, as NDT method that allows the inspection of a wider range of materials.

The main objective of the Third Day of Non-Destructive Testing: Radiography in NDT was to show the current state of digital radiography, especially in terms of used technology and its implementation as NDT technique in Spain. New approaches to this technique -phosphor plate radiography, direct digital radiography or tomography -have fostered flat and volumetric non-destructive inspection by automatic process, applying it to any piece, regardless of its material or geometry.

Technical sessions were focused on trends in automation (systems, automatic analysis of defects, etc.) and the diversity of its industrial and non industrial applications. In the third edition of the NDT conference, internationally recognized researchers of associations and research centers: -Spanish Association of Non-Destructive Testing, The Welding Insitute, Institut Valencià de Conservació i restauración de Béns Culturals-, universities-University of Santiago de Compostela, and companies, Computerized Information Technology Limited - were brought together.

The Third Conference of Non-Destructive Testing: Radiography in NDT was sponsored by the following organizations: General Electric, Isaza, Tecnitest and Drogas Vigo. In addition, the conference had the institutional support of IGAPE and Xunta de Galicia.
