|With the final acceptance testing of the work performed having been completed, the inspection system supplied to Carbures, which was initially used by FIDAMC, is now ready for its entry into the production phase. This comes after the updating of the system carried out by Tecnatom, which will increase its technological capacities.
The equipment, originally consisting of a single arm for the pulse-echo inspection of composite materials using phased-array technology, has been updated with the incorporation of a second arm, an ultrasonic system with conventional electronics, inspection modules and new probes.
The speed, accuracy and repeatability requirements are guaranteed, since the equipment was in fact designed and manufactured to incorporate a second arm allowing for the performance of water jet transmission inspections.
Carbures is an Andalusian multinational company dedicated to engineering and the manufacturing of structures in carbon fibre and composite materials. Considered a Tier 2 in this area, the company also carries out R&D&i projects in different sectors, such as the automobile industry and civil construction. Carbures is currently involved in a process of expansion and has recently taken over MP Productividad y Composystem in the wake of the acquisition of the engineering firm MDU, which will allow it to penetrate the rail transport business and become a reference in the manufacturing of carbon parts for the transport sector overall.
