|The DolphiCam Ultrasound Camera System provides crystal clear images of composite materials, offering the ability to identify, monitor and analyze any defects. Now, with the release of a new software and firmware update, users will be able to create high-res images of defects with even more flexibility.|
DolphiTech AS has released its DolphiCam 1.2 software and firmware update. Designed for the DolphiCam Ultrasound Camera System, the software provides non-destructive testing (NDT) experts with an advanced tool for creating high-resolution 2D and 3D images of defects in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) materials. Stitching, increased transducer energy, a new color palette and analog gain control are among the most prominent new features in the release manual.
"Our customers asked us for a way to create high-resolution images over larger areas," says Eskil Skoglund, VP of Development at DolphiTech. "Our manual stitching feature makes it very easy to cover large areas with the DolphiCam. It is simply more fun to work with, and each tile can be fitted exactly in place as the inspector moves along," he says. "More transmitting elements give even better penetration into porous materials and the analog gain control is now in place," Skoglund continues.
In the automotive industry, customers have asked for a color palette similar to a traffic light scheme. The new color palette makes it possible to create custom color transitions, with white indicating no transducer contact, red indicating disbonding or delaminations and blue indicating backwall reflection. "This will make it easier for non-experts to verify composite structures in a live production line or service and maintenance environment," says Skoglund.
