WCNDT 2016 Closing Remarks by ICNDT Chairman Sajeesh Babu (2016-2020)

International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT)33, Northampton, United Kingdom

By Ir. Sajeesh Babu
Munich, 17th June 2016

Distinguished Guest, ladies and gentlemen,

We have reached the end of the 19th WCNDT, and it is my task to provide some closing remarks. It is a sad task, because we shall be closing the door on lively congress and exhibition, as well as bidding farewell to friends and associates. However, it is also a privilege and an honour to be entrusted with such an undertaking, at a gathering of such eminent people from different parts of the world NDT industry, in the fields of manufacturing, construction, oil & gas petrochemical, transportation, aviation, industry research, NDT societies, academia and the media.

As with all such events and this conference has been an outstanding example & world class our minds have been assailed by a torrent of ideas, information, technology, interpretations and visions, and it will probably be a day or two before we can sift through them all consolidate our own personal perspectives. There is, indeed, plenty to reflect upon and, if this in any way enhances our individual and collective contributions to meeting the global NDT challenges, then the conference can truly be adjudged a success.

As we have heard over the past 4.5 days, there were lot of new inventions, ideas have been shared and discovered say it would be your Robotic controlled air ultrasonic or Portable Shearography or a RT Image digitizer, we shall put the knowledge gained into practice to provide the end users customers a better and confident result. Day by day the improvements made in software & hardware would provide better reliability of NDT results. With the publishing of EN ISO 9712:2012 since last 4 years, we could see increase in third party NDT personnel certifications which in turn provide improved quality in delivering Non-Destructive Testing.

As ICNDT (the world organization for NDT), we have achieved greater progress with our various working groups and committees in this venue. We had our annual general assembly & We had elected the new executive committee; I would like to take this opportunity to introduce them to you all, IEC please raise yourselves. We have also elected the host Country-Argentina for 2024 in this conference. ICNDT is moving forward with an approach to closely work with regions and we have vetted for the organizational changes here in Munich the constitution will be tuned to meet this changes. We have also build our strategic plan 2016-2020. ICNDT WG1 have met in Munich prior to the conference and had considerable progress with their ongoing task.

Without an efficient leader there is no direction to achieve success. This conference is an example to show how such a leader has performed, for this I would congratulate & thank Dr. Matthias Purschke who made this conference a great success. Without an efficient team the leader won’t be able to deliver his vision and success, for this I would like to thank & congratulate the entire team of DGZfP & the 19th WCNDT who made this greatest event in the NDT History.

I would also thank the efficient conference management team, who had made greater advancement with online contribution and communication with authors, participants, exhibitors and visitors which improved the efficiency and delivery of conference. Last but not least, I would like to thank the sponsors & exhibitors for the 19th WCNDT who had made this conference a greater success.

Distinguished Guest, ladies and gentlemen,

We look forward to see you all in Korea for the 20th World Conference for Non-Destructive Testing in 2020.

Thank you.
