SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (Feb. 3, 2017)—Zetec Inc., a global leader in nondestructive testing (NDT) solutions, will host a one-hour webinar on “Time Reversal Technique,” a promising and proven application of phased array ultrasonic technology for the inspection of composite structures after manufacturing.
The webinar, presented by Daniel Richard, Technical Manager for Zetec, will be offered on April 11 and April 12.
“The inspection of composite structures (e.g. CFRP) in the aerospace industry can be complex and challenging,” Richard said. “Misalignments between probe and surface can frequently occur and significantly affect data quality. Time Reversal Technique uses sound beam characteristics to compensate for probe-to-component misalignment conditions.”
The webinar will provide an overview of the principles of the Time Reversal Technique, including:
- A demonstration on how high-performance, portable phased array units can be used to apply the technique for better coverage and detection capability on various composite structures in aerospace applications
- Examples comparing the performance, data quality, and inspection efficiency of the Time Reversal Technique compared to traditional phased array
- A review of quantitative data analysis tools for evaluating flaw indications in composite components
