Visit 9th International Symposium on NDT in Aerospace and East-Asia’s Aircraft Maintenance Super Hub Symposium, Exhibition & Technical Visits in Xiamen/China, , November 8 – 10, 2017
Abstracts due by September 15, 2017

Preparations for the 9th International Symposium on NDT in Aerospace are making good progress. The event has good chances to achieve the size and impact as in the years before. While Germany was in the focus in 2015 and India last year this year’s hosting country China will primarily present what is going to be focal in aerospace related NDT in China. Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astonautics (NUAA) is primarily assembling all the scientific and technical part while Xiamen University is taking charge of the venue at a location of East Asia’s biggest aircraft maintenance hub in the meantime. A remarkable list of keynote and invited speakers with exciting topics has been agreed so far which includes:

Keynote Presentations:

Matthias Buderath, Head of R&T Management, Airbus Defence & Space, Germany Data Enabled Services – Challenges and Opportunities for the Aviation Industry

Fu-Kuo Chang, Professor, Stanford University, USA Digital Structural Health Monitoring

Alfredo Güemes, Professor, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain MAPOD for Fiber-optic Based SHM System Applied to a UAV Fleet

Chuanjun Liu, Deputy Chief Engineer, Beijing Aeronautical Science and Technology Research Institute, COMAC, China Aiming at a Conceptual Definition of BVID - the Application of a High Precision US Microscope

Wieslaw Ostachowicz, Professor, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland Surface, Damage and Bonding Line Assessment for Lightweight Materials

Jianmin Ou, Professor, Tufts University, USA Nonlinear Ultrasonic Methods for Nondestructive Damage Assessment in Structural Materials

Michael D. Todd, Professor, University of California San Diego, USA Probabilistic Signal Processing in Various Ultrasonic Architectures

Zhiwei Zeng, Professor, Xiamen University, China Eddy Current Testing of CFRP and Aluminum Honeycomb Sandwich Structure

There will be also a technical tour to the one or the other aircraft maintenance facility and the symposium will also include an exhibition where NDT vendors are invited to take part.

As in the years before abstracts can still be submitted until September 15, 2017.
All the accepted papers will be published on NDT.net.

Further details can be found on the symposium’s website: aero.nuaa.edu.cn/NDT2017/Home.html

The organisers are looking forward to seeing again many interested parties again at the symposium in the vibrant city of Xiamen.
