Tool Correction as a Fully Digital Workflow add-on Modul from Volume Graphics GmbH

Volume Graphics GmbH39, Heidelberg, Germany

With the Volume Graphics product family – consisting of VGSTUDIO MAX, VGSTUDIO, VGMETROLOGY, VGinLINE, and myVGL – all kinds of analyses and visualizations can be carried out directly on data from industrial computed tomography (CT).

The update to version 3.1.2 opens up a new field of application: The Manufacturing Geometry Correction Module gives users the power to correct the tooling, eliminate geometry deviations, and prevent part failure. Volume Graphics, a provider of leading analysis and visualization software for industrial computed tomography (CT) data, offers the feature as an add-on module for its software solutions VGSTUDIO MAX and VGMETROLOGY.

CT-based Geometry Correction

The Manufacturing Geometry Correction Module merges tool design, production, inspection of first samples, and tool correction into one seamless, fully digital workflow. It helps users to lower the number of iterations – keeping quality up and time to market short.

The Manufacturing Geometry Correction Module corrects the geometry of the tool, mold, or the part itself, based on deviations of the scanned produced part from the target model. The calculated corrections can be used to change milling paths for injection molds, stamping tools, optimize the geometry of 3D printed parts, or reduce iterations on other tools. This eliminates geometry deviations that could later lead to part failure.

The software works on voxel, .stl, and CAD data. A color-coded visualization shows at a glance where and how the manufactured part deviates from the nominal part, including curvatures and undercuts.

There's More to 3.1.2

As with every new version of VGSTUDIO MAX, VGSTUDIO, VGMETROLOGY, VGinLINE, and myVGL, this update also brings with it various helpful improvements, and especially more flexibility for reporting as well as new tutorials.
