Tecnatom Shows at JEC World its Wireless Positioning Technology for Inspection in The Aerospace Sector

Tecnatom’s aerospace division attends JEC World, the leading international composites show, which takes place from 6 to 8 March in Paris.

In addition to its wide range of systems and applications based on its own technology, especially in the field of inspection systems, Non-Destructive Testing and control engineering, Tecnatom will showcase its WiiPA® system, a wireless positioning equipment that facilitates manual inspection of areas of different geometries.

Paris, March 6th 2018.- The Tecnatom Group is attending one more edition of JEC World, the leading international composites show, which takes place from 6 to 8 March at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. JEC World brings together more than 1,300 companies from over 100 countries, from raw material suppliers to end users, and expects to exceed the 2,300 B2B meetings registered in the last edition of 2017.

Tecnatom's aerospace division shows on its stand a version of WiiPA® (WIreless Encoders Inspection, based on Phased Array), a wireless positioning system that facilitates the inspection of areas of different geometries (large or small) manually. WiiPA® system emulates a six axes machine for multiple geometries and parts dimensions. It is based on motion capture using IR cameras and markers for tracking the inspection probes with great accuracy and cadence. Among its proven advantages for the aerospace sector highlight that the system provides position and spatial orientation of multiple probes (UT/ET), it is very productive thanks to the use of phased-array technology, easy to install and suitable for multiple dimensions and geometries.

WiiPA® provides a low-budget solution to some NDT applications traditionally addressed to high-end and costly automated systems: testing of complex geometry components. To achieve this, WiiPA® integrates two state-of-the-art technologies: artificial vision positioning and 3D inspection software, with highly competitive advantages but at the same time it saves costs for the customer.

This Tecnatom’s portable system has been already acquired by some aerospace customers such as Corse Composites Aéronautiques (France), Turkish Aerospace Industry (Turkey) and Aernnova-Coasa (Spain).
