PAUT: In-Service Corrosion Survey of Critical Zone in the Annular Rings in the Above Ground Storage Tanks

Sonotron NDT72, Rehovot, Israel

Multi-skip Shear Wave Volume Corrected (True-to-Geometry, True-to-Shape) sectorial scan coverage and imaging, the principles of which are illustrated by simple examples shown on two short videos below, has been found as most suitable approach for the in-service corrosion survey of critical zone in the annular rings

The inspection is performed with the use of ISONIC EXPERT A-Ring inspection software application running in the portable phased array (PA) instrument of ISONIC Series, either ISONIC 3510 or ISONIC 2010 or ISONIC 2009 from Sonotron NDT and the appropriate probes and accessories. The video below illustrates implementation of the inspection starting from preparing of the calibration and performance demonstration block (PDB), scanning of the PDB, inspection in the field, and postprocessing allowing quantitative evaluation of the corrosion at both product and soil side of the annular ring plate under the tank shell and in the 4”-width area (100 mm) inside the tank
