Inspection of CRA Welds Using DMA Probes

Sonotron NDT69, Rehovot, Israel

Since a year ago the portable PA Instruments ISONIC Series (ISONIC 3510, ISONIC 2010, ISONIC 2009) allow toggling between the Volume Corrected True-to-Geometry (True-to-Shape) S-Scan and FMC/TFM coverage and imaging off- and on-line. For some inspection practices this provides the possibility of sharpening reflectors imaging and precise measurements of their dimensions well correlating with the real defect size.

Nowadays the said unique ability illustrated by some videos below has been proven for the inspection of the coarse structure Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) welds with Dual Matrix Array (DMA) probes:

As every other ISONIC inspection SW application – the Expert DMA, Expert A DMA dedicated to CRA welding are featured with one-click creation of the editable defect list including one-by-one defects distinguishing, sizing, listing, 3D-imaging, etc.
