NDT.net Develops New CD Proceedings for NDT Conferences OnlineNDT.net115, Bad Breisig, Germany
NDT.net is now developing the CD-Proceedings for the PANNDT 2007 Conference to be held Oct 22-25 in Bones Aires. The content of CD-Proceedings usually goes online in the NDT.net database after the conference has closed. Now, for the first time this CD is created directly online in conjunction with the NDT.net database. That means the CD project is visible worldwide with its every day progress, of course without having access to the full-text papers.
The project is visible to the public or for the team only in a restricted environment. To be open to the public has the advantage that the information may attract attendants to register at this interesting conference. But also makes team work between NDT.net, conference committee and all authors very convenient. Furthermore the reliability of the data is very high because all authors can watch to ensure their data is correct. Until now it was not possible for authors to play a role during the construction of proceedings.
The most sensitive data work is the setting of correct author and co-author data which is split into information cells: Name, First Name, Institutions, Department, email address, city, country. The NDT.net database already contains data of more than 6000 authors of the NDT community from all over the world from 2000 institutions in 80 countries. Very often authors' data of new conferences already exist, thus making the process much faster.
NDT.net sees a future in this system by also serving the needs of the technical committees in a very early stage of call for papers. Finally, other data of the event could join the system, coffee breaks etc., so that the program of the complete event could be printed at once. The Committees of NDT conferences can relax in future conferences!
