Sonotech, Inc. introduces Echogel XP in response to a need for an economical couplant with extended performance.|
February 28, 2008Sonotech, Inc. introduces Echogel XP, Extended Performance, an economical ultrasonic couplant designed for flaw inspection.
Echogel XP Extended Performance is an economically priced, slow drying, extended temperature range couplant. Echogel XP resists viscosity breakdown on salt-caked boiler surfaces and on corroded pipe or structural steel.
The benefits of Echogel XP include a broad temperature range (5° F to 190° F), slow drying properties which facilitate large area coverage and re-inspection, enhanced wetting capabilities, and stability on corrosion or salt cake.
Echogel XP is recommended for inspection of power generating boilers when salt cake is present, and is ideal for bridge inspections because it is easy to spread, dries very slowly, and has a broad temperature range. Echogel XP adheres well to horizontal and vertical surfaces, and is not affected by salts of corrosion or winter road salting.
Echogel XP was developed as an economical couplant that would perform in both colder and warmer temperatures than Echogel, said Marian Larson, Director of Sales & Marketing for Sonotech, Inc. Additionally, it offers a longer drying time, which is beneficial when inspecting large parts, or if an inspector needs to go over a part again. It provides a lower cost alternative for inspections not performed at extreme temperatures.
Compatible with most composites and metals, Echogel XP contains a ferrous corrosion inhibitor and is available in two viscosities: Grade 14 and Grade 20. Echogel XP is packaged 1, 5, 15, and 55 gallon containers. Echogel XP is non-flammable, non-irritating, and can be easily removed with water when wet, and pressure wash or wire brush when dry.
