|The Cabinet of Sri Lanka has approved a memorandum submitted by Science and Technology Minister Tissa Vitarana to establish a National Centre for Non-Destructive Testing (NCNDT) at a cost of Rs. 370 mn, which includes equipment, tools, vehicles and furniture to be spread over a period of four years from 2010.
The main objective of this establishment is to increase the incorporation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods into the production process and create skilled and professional technicians in the field.
The proposed centre would serve industrialists as well as provide trainees for those who wish to obtain necessary service in NDT. it would also help to develop careers in the construction and manufacturing sector.
